"Grow your nitrogen, don't buy it?"

A CLIMA Industry Forum on this topic was held on Thursday 27th July 2006 at the University of Western Australia Club. 65 farm consultants, farmers, researchers and other advisers met for a day of talks and discussion sessions. The program is below, along with options for downloading PDFs, Audio only, Audiovisual files or podcasts for each speaker.
Aims:
1.  Identify the constraints and opportunities presented by the inclusion of annual legumes in farming systems.
2.  Inform industry members and researchers of annual legume Research and Development information currently available of relevance for WA.
3.  Enhance the role of annual legumes in WA farming systems in the future.
Summary:  A summary of the forum by Deane Aynsley was produced for WANTFA's "New Frontiers" magazine and is reproduced here by kind permission of the author and WANTFA.
Calculating N Supply and other information:  Click here for an article on Calculating Nitrogen Supply provided by Greg Shea, DAFWA.  To receive an emailed newsletter with updates on the GRDC’s Nutrient Management Initiative (NMI), please contact Wayne Pluske: nutrientmswa@optusnet.com.au
Presentations:
Links to PDF handouts, audio only files, audio visual files or podcasts of each speaker's presentation along with a biography of each speaker are in the 3rd column below. If you chose audio only then you'll just get sound; if you chose audiovisual files then you should be able to both hear the speaker and see their powerpoint presentation.
NB: Some of the audio visual files are very large and not suitable for dial up access.  The link pages give options for podcasts, quicktime or windows mediaplayer, and for each you need to select your type of download (dial up,low or high speed broadband, etc) in the right hand drop-down box before starting the download. It is best to then use the righthand mouse button to "save target as" to your hard drive before opening the file.  There are also links to software for downloading, such as "quicktime".
