Sir Reginald Radish
Sir Reginald Radish is a wild radish - and he takes the "wild" part of his name very seriously. He's lord of the weeds, and getting rid of him is really tough. The thing is, Sir Reginald Radish is just too good at growing! As soon as it rains, up he comes, then quickly sends a tap root deep into the soil to grab all the water and fertiliser he wants. He then grows leaves as fast as possible to catch the sunlight and shade out the crop plants around him. Of course once he's finished growing he makes sure there are lots of his seeds in the ground to carry on his work next year. Once Reggie's in the ground life's tough for everyone else including the farmers. Now Reggie is good at growing and he's also smart. Although the Jones have got him with their herbicide spray this year, it might not work next year. You see, some of Reggie's mates have figured out a way of surviving herbicide sprays. Looks like the Jones' will have to look at other ways to control Sir Reginald in future. |
