Wheat Cheque Information: | |
Do you know what a wheat cheque is? If you're not from a farm, I suppose you don't, so I'd better explain it to you. Most people go to work and get paid every week or two, all year. It's not like that for farmers. They get paid for their wheat once or twice a year. The money they are paid depends on how much they harvest and the quality of the wheat they've grown. When the harvested wheat is delivered to the grain receival authority, it is tested on the spot for protein. The more good quality wheat they deliver, the more money they are paid. Farmers don't know exactly how much they will be paid until their grain is delivered and tested. That makes planning the family budget a bit tricky! | ![]() |
